A fight the most interesting to Australians at UFC 127: Penn vs. Fitch, George Sotiropoulos locked horns with German Dennis Siver. Many though the Australian deserved a title shot instead of this fight. It turned out the German was a very tough test.

ROUND 1 - Right hand lands for the Australian as Siver uses his front leg like a jab. Outside leg kick for Siver. Sotiropoulos grabs ahold of Siver’s leg and tries mightily to land a takedown, but Siver has none of it. Sotiropoulos shoots and is thrown right by by Siver. Outside leg kick lands for Siver. Wheel kick for Siver misses, but a punch clips the Australian. A huge left hand for Siver connects. And another. Siver now on top throwing hammerfists, but moves back out to stand. Sotiropoulos attempts a terrible takedown from far outside. Siver leaps in with a left hand. Turning side kick from Siver barely misses.

ROUND 2 - Siver stumbles from a missed punch, but recovers. Leaping left hook from Siver misses the mark. Sotiropoulos trying to create openings with feints and movements. He times a takedown and is stuffed right away. Another single leg attempt from the Australian, but it’s immediately dismissed. Left hook from Siver barely misses. Big right hand for Siver and Sotiroppulos lands a couple of punches after several wild exchanges. Left hook lands for Sotiropoulos and a leg kick.

ROUND 3 - Sotiropoulos goes for another takedown, but Siver dismisses it easily. Sotiropoulos takes center of the Octagon with Siver now counterpunching on the outside. Another kick from Siver and another takedown stuffed by Siver. Both fighters trading punches up high, neither landing much. Another reaching takedown attempt from the Australian and it misses. Siver lands a hard shot the body. Hard jab from Siver. Spinning back first barely lands, but a hard right from Siver finds the mark. Another outside leg kick from Siver. Another turning side kick for Siver barely lands.
