ROUND 3 - round three begins with a big right hand from Jon Fitch and a takedown right away. B.J. Penn pushes him off and the fighters continue to clinch against the fence. Penn stops the second takedown and Fitch takes his back standing. Now on top in half guard, Fitch unloads ground and pound. Butterfly guard now for Fitch. Fitch is truly giving it to Penn this round with Penn offering next to nothing from his back. Penn is barely covering up and taking a lot of damage from his back. There's no positional advancement for Fitch, but there doesn't need to be any. Fitch using dirty boxing tactics of holding the head from top position. Penn's guard is effectively nullified. A small attempt from Fitch for a head and arm triangle, but nothing doing.
