UFC Fight Night 24 Results: Chan Sung Jung Submits Leonard Garcia With A Twister

The first fight on the Spike TV portion of UFC Fight Night 24 is Leonard Garcia vs. Chan Sung Jung. This is a featherweight bout and a rematch from WEC 48. Garcia won the first contest, albeit controversially. Jung is coming off a loss to George Roop.

The referee in charge of the action is Dan Miragliotta.

ROUND 1 - Both fighters standing orthodox and Jung stars with an outside leg kick. Garcia responds in kind. Outside kick again for Jung. Hard right hand misses for Garcia as he lunges in. Leg kick lands for Garcia by Jung responds with a right straight. Hard left hook finds the mark for Garcia. Uppercut and outside leg kick lands for Jung. Both fighters trading head kicks over and over this fight. Uppercut to outside trip lands for Jung. Knees from the clinch after Garcia stands hurt Garcia badly. Garcia recovers and Jung working from on top. Jung passes to mount and then takes the back as the round ends.

ROUND 2 - The two trade kicks that don’t do much to start the round. Jung doing nearly all of the stalking, but Garcia takes center cage a little, too. Flying knee finds the mark for Jung, but Garcia responds with a right hook to the body. Another flying knee, but this one misses. Hard left hand for Jung. Hard leg kick to the outside of Jung’s lead leg lands for Garcia. Hard knee lands for Jung as Garcia ducks right into it. Another flying knee finds the mark for Jung, but Garcia slips to the canvas and Jung is working on top from Garcia’s full guard. HARD elbows from Jung on top now. Garcia tries to scramble and Jung takes his back. And Chan Sung Jung lands a Twister from back control. Beautiful submission.
