Bellator 35 Results: Rick Hawn Outboxes Jim Wallhead To A Decision Victory

Up next is a battle between two judoka, Jim Wallhead vs. Rick Hawn. This is the second quarterfinal bout of the Bellator Welterweight tournament.

Round 1 - Our referee for this bout is Jason McCoy. Hawn opens with a three-punch flurry. Hawn pushes Wallhead into the fence. Hawn disengages with a left hook. Kick from Wallhead grazes Hawn low. Round 2 - Nice chopping kick from Wallhead. Hawn pressing forward and lands a stiff kick to Wallhead’s lead leg. We’ve been at striking range for the entire bout so far. Hawn opening up now, landing another leg kick and punch combo. Body kick from Hawn. Another two-punch combination. Wallhead’s hands are starting to drop. Wallhead briefly catches a leg kick. Hawn working Wallhead’s lead leg again. Wallhead has no answer for Hawn’s leg kicks. Short knee from Wallhead. Lead uppercut from Hawn lands. Wallhead drops down for a double-leg, but Hawn remains standing. Hawn showing effective head movement. Wallhead lands a right, but Hawn is landing more. Wallhead shoots in again, but is stuffed. Ten seconds remain in the round. Hawn ends the round as he started it: with a leg kick.

Round 3 - Wallhead checks a leg kick! Wallhead much more active, but Hawn is still more effective. Nice one-two combo from Wallhead. Wallhead establishing his jab now. Hawn isn’t fading, but Wallhead looks fresher in round three. Referee Jason McCoy calls time to replace Wallhead’s mouth piece. Hawn missing on left hooks that were landing earlier. Wallhead shoots in for a single, but ends up on his back. Hawn throwing short punches to the obliques. Wallhead pushes Hawn off to create space and stands up. One minute left in the fight. Nice straight right from Wallhead. Hawn lands a body kick as the round comes to a close.
