Mark Hominick took a pounding at the hands of Jose Aldo during the co-main event at UFC 129 in Toronto. It was bad enough that Hominick developed a nasty hematoma above his right eye during the match, and it only got worse as the match wore on. The referee and doctors kept an eye on Hominick's nasty lump throughout the fight, and doctors stopped to check it during the middle of the round at one point, deciding he was still good to continue.

But to Hominick’s credit, he never gave up and nearly knocked out Aldo as he spent almost the entire fifth round on top, pounding away and raining down shots on the champion. The fifth round surge wasn’t quite enough, though, as Aldo took home the unanimous decision and retained his belt.
