VIDEO: Dana White UFC 130 Video Blog - Day 1
UFC President Dana White is back with his video blog series, this time promoting UFC 130. Sort of. This edition of the blog is actually just footage about UFC 129. That's neither a new practice for this blog - to air the previous event's footage to promote the upcoming event - nor necessarily unwelcome. The footage of UFC 129 is noteworthy, for any number of reasons. The problem is two-fold. I don't know that simple UFC 129 footage is going to promote UFC 130. Simple adjacency of UFC 129 content next to or even within UFC 130 content won't translate into interest in the latter.
Second, is there nothing to say about UFC 130? I’m certain that is coming in future editions of the video blog. And I get that isn’t as compelling as UFC 129 footage, but there’s nothing about UFC 130 in this first edition? No predictions from fighters? No showing Dana at Mandalay Bay?
I'll repeat myself: I actually believe this event is going to be hugely entertaining. In terms of how the fights will be received, I expect high marks. I just get the sense the loss of the main event between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard as well as the absence of Brock Lesnar from UFC 131 took the wind out of Zuffa's sails.
