UFC 130 Results: Tim Boetsch Dominates Kendall Grove With Wrestling

The first fight of the preliminary card on Spike TV at UFC 130: Rampage vs. Hamill is Tim Boetsch vs. Kendall Grove. This is a middlweight fight, meaning 185 pounds. Both fighters are UFC veterans, but this is Boestch's first fight at middleweight. The referee in charge of the action is Steve Mazzagatti.

ROUND 1 - Both fighters standing orthodox with Grove taking the center. Knee tap take down early forces Grove to the mat. Boetsch stands out of Grove’s half guard and the fight resumes on the feet. The fighters clinch and Boetsch uses is to pull Grove’s legs out from under him after changing levels. Grove recaptures full guard. Grove postures up for an armbar, but easily pulls out of it. The fighters clinch again with Grove’s back against the fence. The fighters now jockey for position against the fence. The round ends with the fighters separating.

ROUND 2 - Grove opens up with an outside leg kick. Boetsch leaps in with a left hand, but misses. Grove again has the center of the Octagon. Now the fighters clinch against the fence. Hard outside trip takedown and Boetsch is in side control. Hard, short elbows on top now from Boetsch. Grove leans to his hip and is able to stand, but Boetsch again pulls Grove to the floor and is back in side control. Grove scrambling and trying to get his base down, but Boetsch slowing the scramble. Grove tries to stand again, but Boetsch drags him back to the floor. Grove sets up early triangle attempt, but Boetsch shrugs him over.

ROUND 3 - Boetsch ducks under a jab and turns the corner twice on Grove to drag him to the floor. Grove is able to stand, but has his back to the fence. Grove now has Boetsch’s back to the fence and is driving punches. Fantastic osoto gari from Boetsch puts Grove back on the floor. Grove stands back up and they separate. Nice jab by Grove. Boetsch gets Grove to the floor and avoids a triangle attempt, but Grove stands back up. And again, Grove is scooped out to be sent back to the mat. Grove attempts another triangle, but Boetsch stands out. Grove attempts a takedown of his own and gets it, but Boetsch reverses and locks up a front head lock. Boetsch ends the fight with a Turk in back control.
