TUF 13 Finale Results: Clay Guida Gives Anthony Pettis UFC Welcoming Party

The fourth fight of the night and airing on Spike TV at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale is Clay Guida vs. Anthony Pettis. This is a lightweight fight, meaning 155lbs. This is the UFC debut for Pettis, although he is the former WEC lightweight champion. The referee in charge of the action is Steve Mazzagatti.

ROUND 1 - Both fighters standing orthodox. Right hand from Pettis lands, but barely. Guida showing a ton of movement while Pettis seems more measured in his approach. Pettis lands an outside kick and takes Pettis to the floor, but already working for submissions or creating spaces. Guida trying to ground and pound and getting some shots through, but much of them blocked. Pettis attempts to kick off his back hand, stands, but is taken back down by Guida. Pettis attempts another triangle, but can’t quite seem to get it. Guida now in half guard.

ROUND 2 - Diving left for Pettis misses. Pettis beginning to switch stances, but Guida takes him down with a diving double leg scoop. Pettis trying to get his hips level, but Guida making ti hard to stand. Pettis stands, but still hasn’t created sapce. Uppercut, left hook for Pettis as he separates plus a head kick glances. 360 spinning back kick for Pettis misses. Leg kick now for Pettis. Guida again times the cross of Pettis and takes him to the mat. Pettis triangle hunting, but Guida works through it. Pettis attempts an arm bar at the close of the round, but nothing doing.

ROUND 3 - Overhand right from Guida and a takedown as well. Pettis’ guard is active but so far, nothing doing. Guida moves to half guard and landing some short elbows on top. Pettis is able to stand, but the two are clinched against the fence. In a scramble with 90 seconds left, Pettis takes his back from mount. Guida shakes a hook free and roles Pettis over now. Now Guida has Pettis back with one hook in. Guida closes the round with both hooks.
