UFC Fight Night 25 Fight Card: Roberts Out, Stumpf In Against Waldburger

Less than a week before fight night, welterweight veteran Daniel Roberts has been removed from a scheduled bout against T.J. Waldburger (13-6) at UFC Live: Shields vs. Ellenberger due to injuries sustained in training camp. Promotional newcomer Mike Stumpf (11-2) has been selected to take his place. UFC officials announced the news Monday afternoon with this pair of tweets:

Stumpf enters the fight on just five days notice. An XFO-veteran and Team Curran representative from Chicago, the 25-year-old last fought in May, defeating Dan Bolden via unanimous decision. The win marked a return to the cage after a three-year absence, and was the fifth in Stumpf’s last six fights.

Meanwhile, Waldburger looks to rebound after dropping in the first round against Johny Hendricks in March. The loss snapped a four-fight win streak and was the first setback for the former Shark Fights welterweight champion since 2008.

UFC Fight Night 25 is slated for September 17th at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Headlining is a welterweight tilt between former Strikeforce champion Jake Shields and rising contender Jake Ellenberger.
