UFC 208: Holm vs. de Randamie is set to get underway on Saturday. The card features a main event between Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie for the first-ever UFC Featherweight Championship. A co-main event between Anderson Silva and Derek Brunson also highlights what is a strong card.
UFC 208 live stream: How to watch the Holm vs. de Randamie fight and undercard online
UFC 208 is a packed card featuring some big matchups. Here’s how to watch it on TV and online.
The event will be broadcast via pay-per-view beginning at 10 p.m ET. The preliminary card will begin at 6:30 p.m. on UFC Fight Pass and will continue at 8 p.m. on Fox Sports 1. Live streams will be available on UFC.tv, the UFC YouTube account, and various UFC apps on connected smart devices.
Holm is notable for handing Ronda Rousey her first career loss, and in doing so earned the UFC bantamweight championship. Unfortunately, she lost it in her next fight, losing to Meisha Tate via submission. She has lost her last two fights, as she fell to Valentina Shevchenko via decision in July 2016.
But now she’s fighting for a title, and given her career thus far, it makes sense. The UFC doesn’t have an expansive featherweight division but they first need to establish a champion. Holm’s two losses were to opponents who were bad matchups for her.
De Randamie is 6-3 as a pro, with TKO wins in her last two matches, beating Anna Elmose and Larissa Pacheco. Her last loss was to Amanda Nunes in 2013.
Silva is on a four-fight losing skid and has a recent history of taking fights on short notice, despite the negative impact it seems to have on his performance. One of the best fighters in the sport’s history, Silva unfortunately took this fight on short notice, as well. But as in any fight, Silva has a shot at winning thanks to his dangerous striking.
For Brunson, the path to victory will likely be his wrestling. He’s a strong wrestler and his ground-and-pound is effective. Silva is a great practitioner of Brazilian jiu-jitsu but he’s been vulnerable to wrestlers in the past.
Aside from those two fights, it’s a packed main card and a packed preliminary card. On the main card, Ronaldo Souza will take on Tim Boetsch in another middleweight matchup. The main card will start with a lightweight bought between Jim Miller and Dustin Poirier.
