Bobby Hamilton Jr. is alleged to have pulled a gun on some racers at a Tennessee short track he owns, according to Nashville TV station WSMV.
Report: Racers Accuse Bobby Hamilton Jr. Of Pulling Gun On Them
↵The station reported Hamilton Jr., a former Cup Series driver who now races Trucks part-time, got into an argument with a race team and pulled a gun out of his back pocket, according to crewman Scott Thompson:
↵↵“He cocked it back and started waving it around. Saying, ‘I’ll pop it, I’ll pop it. I’ll pop it.’ ... I’ve never had a gun pointed at me, and I definitely didn’t like it.”
↵↵Hamilton Jr. refuted the accusation, according to the station, saying he was acting in self-defense:
↵↵“I kept watching their hands, watching their gestures, they kept getting more frustrated, about the time their hands go in their pockets, about the time they were coming out, they charged, and that’s when I said, ‘Not today, not today.’”
↵↵No charges were filed in the case, but that the incident happened in the first place is bizarre. Hamilton was once a full-time Cup driver and is now squabbling with a race team who wanted a refund on their entry fee.
