Steve Addington Out As Crew Chief For Kurt Busch At Penske Racing

Steve Addington has left Penske Racing and his role as crew chief for Kurt Busch at Penske Racing, according to multiple reports.

While the rumor of Addington’s departure began in October at Charlotte Motor Speedway, all of which were adamantly denied by all parties, Tuesday’s news comes as little surprise.

Penske Racing team president Tim Cindric confirmed Addington’s departure to FoxSports.com’s Lee Spencer.

“Steve Addington is no longer with our organization,” he said. “We appreciate the successes we experienced together and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

In the two years as Busch’s crew chief at Penske Racing, Addington and Busch scored four victories, 17 top-fives, 33 top-10s, five poles and made the Chase each year. However, both seasons with Busch were tumultuous on the radio and led to less than stellar results in the Chase.

Addington is expected to move to Stewart-Haas Racing, possibly filling the role of crew chief for series champion Tony Stewart.
