Michael Waltrip Racing To Part Ways With David Reutmann After 2011 NASCAR Season
Team owner Michael Waltrip called Reutimann “a significant part” of the organization since its inception, adding he would “forever be a part of our heritage.”
Reutimann has two wins with the team, the 2009 Coca-Cola 600 and last year’s race at Chicagoland Speedway.
“We want to thank David for his contribution to our growth and success over the past five years and wish him well in the future,” Waltrip said in a statement released by the team.
After the news was released, Waltrip tweeted the following:
@mw55 I love @DavidReutimann. Its been a tough week.Reutimann will remain with the team for the final three races of the year before moving on at the end of the season.
After signing Clint Bowyer to the team last month, MWR appears to have its sights on veteran racer Mark Martin. Multiple reports have Martin competing a partial schedule for the organization.
