Kurt Busch may have missed out on his fourth consecutive pole this weekend at Infineon Raceway, but he was first to the checkered flag at the end of the day, scoring his first Sprint Cup Series victory of the season. Starting 11th, Busch made his way to the lead in only 14 laps and was hard to beat after that.

While others had to pit three times, Busch and crew chief Steve Addington used a two-stop strategy throughout the day and made it work. Leading 75 of the 110 laps, Busch put on a clinic as the rest of the field battled for the runner-up spot behind him.
“We just had to conserve our rear tires,” Busch said. “That was the main setup and that was the main thought. Once we had enough fuel mileage to make it, I started to pick up my pace. We didn’t want guys to think they had a shot at us and I was able to stretch it out.”
