NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Point Standings: Kurt Busch And Jeff Gordon Make Gains At Infineon Raceway

Kurt Busch and Jeff Gordon each jumped three spots in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings following their first- and second-place finishes Sunday at Infineon Raceway.

Scoring the victory, Busch moved into fourth in the championship hunt, now with one win under his belt.

“We’ve been on a great run these last few weeks,” Busch said. “To bring it on home and get a W, yeah, there’s that insurance with the win. We bumped up in points. It’s a matter of just continuing each week to get better.”

Gordon’s second-place run moved him inside the top 10 in points to ninth, taking him out of the wild card spot with 10 races left before the field is set for the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

While a number of drivers had rough outings on the road course in Sonoma, Dale Earnhardt Jr. had the biggest drop in the standings, falling four positions to seventh after finishing 41st.
