↵Hinton, reacting to the poor attendance, the 2012 NASCAR schedule at the track (with a Nationwide race and Grand-Am event) and the selling of the Brickyard 400’s name to a Crown Royal contest, wrote, “NASCAR has never belonged here, and it never will.”
↵“NASCAR has managed to devastate and nearly destroy the prestige of the Indianapolis 500,” he wrote, “and now as NASCAR’s own popularity dims nationwide, it drags the Brickyard 400 down with it.”
