A NASCAR Nationwide Series crewman was injured Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway when the MAKE Motorsports car he was working on rolled over him.

Cory Howe, the car chief for the No. 50 car driven by T.J. Bell, was airlifted to a local hospital after sustaining injuries on pit road during the Nationwide Series morning practice session. At the time of the incident, Howe was underneath the car performing adjustments.
Though it appeared serious, the team said tests for severe injuries were negative. Howe is awake, alert and in good condition as of noon Eastern time.
