Ask anyone, and they’ll tell you there’s never been a finish quite like the one of Saturday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Iowa Speedway.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Wins Iowa NASCAR Nationwide Race After Carl Edwards Crashes Into Him At Finish
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Roush Fenway Racing teammate Carl Edwards had been butting heads all night, making contact several times while battling for position.
But the biggest contact came when Stenhouse Jr. blew his engine coming to the finish line. Edwards had little time to react or avoid Stenhouse and smashed into the back of the No. 6 car, shoving it across the finish line.
Both cars sustained significant damage, and Stenhouse did his victory lap while riding around in a wrecker. He was joined by his team in Victory Lane, but not by his car.
After the race, Edwards – who flew to from Pennsylvania to Iowa to race against the Nationwide regulars – said Stenhouse drives too aggressively and added the teammates would sort things out at the shop.
Clearly, the ill feelings between Edwards and Stenhouse won’t be resolved by the wild finish of Saturday night’s race.
