Chicagoland Speedway NASCAR Weather Forecast: Possible Rain, But No Need To Worry

Conditions in Elwood, IL: Click here for Current Weather ConditionsLook at Doppler Radar | Mobile Friendly Site | Mobile Radar

There is just a small chance of rain for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Chicagoland Speedway. A slow-moving cold front is expected to move through the central and northern plains on Sunday. It will begin to spread areas of scattered-to-isolated showers into Illinois.

The good news is it appears this system will be moving slow and may not impact northeastern Illinois until Sunday evening or Sunday night.

I believe we have a 70-to-80 percent chance of getting the whole race in on Sunday afternoon, and that estimate may even be too pessimistic. If you are making plans to watch the race or go to it, I wouldn’t worry too much about the rain.

This forecast is not like the ones we had for Pocono, Watkins Glen and Atlanta.
