The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will replace Montreal on the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, NASCAR announced Tuesday in a news conference at Nationwide Insurance headquarters in Columbus.

Mid-Ohio is part of a 33-race Nationwide schedule with no other significant changes. There will be six standalone races next season, including two at Iowa and one each at Road America, Kentucky, Chicagoland and Mid-Ohio.

The move to Mid-Ohio is due in large part to sponsor Nationwide, which now gets a race close to its base of operations. But for the first time since 2004, the Nationwide Series will have no international races. It staged events in Mexico City from 2005-08 and in Montreal from 2007-12.

Montreal was removed from the schedule because organizers said they needed a Sprint Cup Series race date to break even.
