A family in the NASCAR community is suffering from unimaginable heartbreak and unspeakable loss. Though there’s little our words can do to ease their pain, it’s time for all of us to show our support.

Bryce Rueger, son of Andy Rueger – the gasman for Ryan Newman last year and for Kurt Busch in the upcoming season – died in an ATV accident on Thanksgiving day. He was 7 years old.

To even try and grasp what the panic and horror of that day must have felt like for the Rueger family is crushing. And the hole left behind by their son’s loss is difficult to even comprehend. It’s the kind of thing you see on the news and hope never happens to anyone you know – but this did happen, and it’s very real.

In nightmares like this, there’s little anyone can do but let the family know there are people who care. We should rally around this family – strangers or not.

After all, the Ruegers are part of the NASCAR community, which is by far the best thing about racing. Drivers, crew members and even fans are all part of a close-knit family. When one member feels a loss, we rise to the occasion and show our support.

The Rueger family is suffering immensely. Let’s make sure they know there are many people across the country who are thinking of them and their son at this time.

Click here to show your support by signing the guestbook on Bryce’s obituary page.
