Super Bowl commercials: Danica Patrick to appear in two more Go Daddy ads

Christian Petersen

No celebrity has been seen in Super Bowl commercials more times than NASCAR driver Danica Patrick’s 10 appearances.

That record is unlikely to be toppled anytime soon after the announcement Thursday that Patrick will appear in two more Super Bowl ads for sponsor Go Daddy in February.

Though Go Daddy teased the media and tried to fuel speculation Danica was out, it was never very believable. The press release was all a big tease – just like the “See what happens next” ads.

Yes, Go Daddy is moving to a more conservative marketing campaign. But Patrick will still be included, just in a different way.

“I heard from Bob (Parsons, Go Daddy founder) a couple weeks ago after some news came out about maybe not being in them,” she said Friday at Phoenix International Raceway. “He called and said, ‘Hey, look – I just want you to know, it’s my intention and my plan that you will be in a Super Bowl ad.’”

But the biggest news – at least to Danica – was she’ll be appearing in both commercials, not just one. She didn’t find that out until it was announced at a press conference on Thursday.

“That was definitely news to me,” she said. “Great news.”

Patrick likes appearing in the ads because, as she said, “that’s some amazing exposure for me as a brand.”

“To link that up with Go Daddy and only continue to solidify our partnership and our value in each other was very important to me,” she added.
