Brendan Gaughan is returning to full-time NASCAR competition.
Brendan Gaughan to drive full-time Truck Series entry for Richard Childress Racing in 2013

After a year in which he ran 22 races across NASCAR’s top three national series – but didn’t run a full schedule in any – Gaughan will race a full Camping World Truck Series schedule for Richard Childress Racing in 2013.
Gaughan will drive RCR’s No. 62 Truck sponsored by the South Point casino, which is owned by his father. He’ll also run two Nationwide Series races for RCR – at Las Vegas in March and Road America in June.
Shane Wilson, who began 2012 as the crew chief for Kevin Harvick in the Sprint Cup Series, will head Gaughan’s team.
“I’m thrilled to be back in the Truck Series for a full season,” Gaughan said in a press release. “I would have been thankful to compete full time for Richard Childress Racing in any series, but returning to the trucks will provide me a second chance to go out and win the Truck Series championship that was stolen from me in 2003.
“I can’t wait to be reunited with my former crew chief Shane Wilson; all of my Truck Series wins have come with Shane on the pit box. Now that we’re back together, we’re going to do all that we can to get that championship we should have brought home years ago.”
Gaughan’s No. 62 team will have the owner points from RCR’s No. 22 entry, which was driven by Joey Coulter (who left RCR for Kyle Busch Motorsports).
