After a bit of a delay to start the season, the NMPA NASCAR Most Popular Driver Award voting is officially open (starting today) at www.MostPopularDriver.com.
NASCAR Most Popular Driver Award Voting Now Open

As was the case last year, the format is a “regular season” of voting – in which a top 10 is compiled now through Sept. 8 – followed by a 10-week “playoff” where the vote total is reset to zero.
Voting will conclude Nov. 18.
As always, fans can vote once per day for their favorite NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver. Dale Earnhardt Jr. has won nine straight Most Popular Driver awards, putting him in elite company with Bill Elliott as the only drivers to do so since the award began in 1953.
“The NMPA is proud to offer fans the chance to voice their opinion on NASCAR drivers and determine who will be honored with this award,” NMPA president Rea White said. “This annual award allows the fans to have their voices heard and make their choice for favorite driver known.”
The NMPA is the National Motorsports Press Association, an organization mainly made up of NASCAR writers that has existed for more than 40 years.
