Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh said the bounties placed on opposing players by the New Orleans Saints were "unfortunate" and said his team doesn't share that practice.

“Personally, I don’t take part in those things,” Suh said Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway, where he is grand marshal for NASCAR’s Subway Fresh Fit 500. “Knowing my teammates and knowing my coaches, we don’t allow that.”
Suh said he knows NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will come down hard on the Saints for the bounties – as Goodell has done for Suh himself – but the former Nebraska star said he supports any punishment.
“He’s going to deal with it obviously with a stiff hand as he has in the past,” Suh said. “Hopefully people can learn from those mistakes and just make an example out of it.”
Suh said he was uncertain how widespread the bounties were in the NFL, but just said he knew the practice didn’t take place in Detroit.
“I have friends that play on other teams, obviously, but I really don’t know much about it,” he said.
It’s always a mission to try and get to the quarterback, Suh said, but hurting another player was a completely different matter.
“For me personally and I know my teammates, we don’t want to put anybody out,” he said. “I would never want anybody to target me and take me out, so why would I do it to anybody else?”
Suh, who will say "Gentlemen, start your engines" to get the Phoenix race going today, also took a moment to jab Subway spokesman Jared Fogle, an Indianapolis Colts fan.
“Yeah, we’re not too worried about the Colts right now,” he told Fogle.
