New Ford Commercial Featuring Carl Edwards Debuts During Final Four Tonight

NASCAR driver Carl Edwards will be featured in a new series of Ford ads which debut tonight during the NCAA Tournament championship game.

The commercials show Edwards wheeling a new Ford Taurus around a California road course with Ford engineers as his passengers (the engineers had no idea Edwards was going to be at the shoot when they showed up, so they were pretty surprised).

Here’s the first of the ads:

The car in the ad is a 2013 Taurus SHO, which Edwards drove at speeds up to 120 mph with the engineers. Each engineer arrived thinking they would be asked to talk about Taurus technologies but instead got a ride of a lifetime – geared toward demonstrating how the car performs in extreme conditions.

Ford says it wants to “surprise car buyers in the same way participating engineers were surprised.”

After tonight’s game, longer versions of the ads will be featured at www.ford.com/Taurus.
