Qualifying for the 2012 Indianapolis 500 doesn’t begin until Saturday, but first, the drivers will get in one final practice session today. In addition to practice, today’s “Fast Friday” schedule also includes the qualification draw.
2012 Indianapolis 500 Schedule: Fast Friday Has Arrived
After practicing Wednesday and Thursday, drivers will return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway today for a third and final day of preparing for qualifying. Today’s practice session will begin at 12 p.m. ET and run until 6 p.m. ET. This is all open to the public with gates opening at 10 a.m. ET.
Following the practice session, the qualification draw takes place at 6:15 p.m. ET. This is used to determine a starting grid for Saturday’s “Pole Day” of qualifying. All of the 2012 Indy 500 entrants will be given a Saturday qualifying position based on the results of tonight’s draw.
