Greg Biffle doesn’t expect Roush Racing to share much data with Penske Racing

At last week's Daytona test, Carl Edwards expressed an interest in exchanging data with new Ford team, Penske Racing. His teammate, Greg Biffle, thinks that it might easier said than done.

Biffle met with the media prior to Friday's Charlotte Motor Speedway open test and discussed his team's new relationship with Penske Racing now that both teams represent the Blue Oval. In short, he doesn't think it will change too drastically from when Penske fielded Dodges.

"The engine shop will get another opportunity to have more engines on the race track and maybe collect more data,” Biffle said. “I think it will be similar to maybe Stewart-Haas and the Ganassi group. They’re both GM, but they’re competing against each other, so I don’t see a tremendous amount of stuff crossing back and forth… but I don’t think we’re going to be sharing full notes or anything like that.

"I’m not against it but that’s just typically how organizations are run.”

Penske made the switch over to Ford near the middle of the season even after the team had already started work on Dodge’s 2013 cars. It will be interesting to see how that affects Penske's performance once the season begins.

Meanwhile, Biffle is more concerned about his own lack of track time. Last week's Daytona test was not indicative of the bulk of the Sprint Cup Series schedule and the first day of Charlotte testing on Thursday was canceled due to inclement weather.

“This is the first opportunity we’ve really had to get the car on the race track in the configuration we’re actually going to race in,” Biffle said. “We’ve tested a few times with a composite body and not all of the latest rules, but this is really it for us.

“We needed these two days to really figure out what the car is going to end up like.”
