In recent years Kurt Busch has shown an affinity for incorporating different paint schemes from famous racing movies.
Kurt Busch to carry ‘Talladega Nights’ paint scheme at Talladega
Kurt Busch will run a “Talladega Nights” inspired paint scheme in this weekend’s NASCAR race at Talladega Superspeedway.

A year ago in the May Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway, Busch drove a paint scheme complete with a cougar painted on his hood. Expect for the different numbers, it was an exact replica of the car Will Ferrell’s character raced in “Talladega Nights,” the 2006 comedy flick about a fictional NASCAR driver named Ricky Bobby.
And this summer in the July Nationwide Series race at Daytona, Busch raced a car painted like the one Tom Cruise competed with in “Days of Thunder.” Busch even went as far to do his best Cole Trickle impersonation, reciting lines from the movie throughout the race.
This weekend in the Cup race at Talladega, Busch will again turn fiction into real life when he debuts a new Wonder Bread paint scheme similar to the one used in “Talladega Nights.” But unlike his previous endeavors, this time there are actual sponsorship dollars behind the effort.
Flower Foods is backing Busch’s Furniture Row Racing team as part of a marketing plan to reintroduce the Wonder brand, which had been off the market since the bankruptcy of its former owner late last year.
“It’s shake and bake time,” said Busch, repeating a famous catchphrase used frequently in “Talladega Nights.”
