Following an altercation on the track last week at Martinsville Speedway that led to a confrontation on pit road, Jimmie Johnson says he’s not concerned with Greg Biffle seeking retribution.

A week after a confrontation at Martinsville, Jimmie Johnson says he’s not worried about Greg Biffle looking for payback.

During Sunday’s race at Martinsville, Johnson made contact with the rear bumper of Biffle’s car causing sizeable damage. The subsequent pit stop for repairs cost Biffle a chance at the victory, and he confronted Johnson afterward vehemently letting him know he was displeased. Biffle even made allusions to the fact that Johnson was competing for a championship and better be careful.
But Johnson isn’t worried about any potential fallout, even though he has the most to lose. Johnson and Matt Kenseth are tied for the Sprint Cup points with three races remaining, while Biffle is seventh overall with no hope of winning the championship.
“I do feel like things are under control there and I feel like if he was that angry in the car he probably would have turned me around in Martinsville,” Johnson said Friday at Texas Motor Speedway.
Biffle said Tuesday he would call Johnson to discuss their differences, but the two have yet to speak though they have exchanged text messages. Johnson took part in a three-day test this week at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
“I do feel like it’s in the past,” Johnson said. “... I just don’t see how it would linger on and over. I certainly hate that things turned out as they did. I don’t think it’s going to go any further.”
So what was Johnson thinking when he saw it was an enraged Biffle who had jerked him by the collar?
“The look in his eyes, I don’t even think he looked at me,” he said. “He was looking around me and saw all of you (media) standing there. I think he was just as shocked that he grabbed me like that as anyone.
“I’ve been in a couple of fights, not many, but he didn’t want to fight. He was just pissed.”
