Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch each took home the checkered flag in the two Budweiser Duels

    Kyle Busch wins Duel No. 2

    Thanks to the help of a new teammate, Kyle Busch won the second Budweiser Duel at Daytona International Speedway, assuring himself of starting the Daytona 500 in the fourth position.

    Busch latched onto the back bumper of Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Matt Kenseth late in the race and followed Kenseth’s No. 20 Toyota to the front, where Busch assumed the lead and then held off numerous challengers to secure the victory.

    No driver has ever won the Sprint Unlimited, a qualifying race and the Daytona 500 in a single season. But thanks to a victory in the first Budweiser Duel, which follows his dominating win in the Unlimited earlier in the week, Kevin Harvick will attempt to become the first driver to complete the Daytona Speedweeks sweep.

    After sliding back early on, Harvick begin picking his way through the field as Trevor Bayne asserted himself early on as the driver to beat.

    Daytona 500 qualifying races moving to prime-time

    The Budweiser Duels qualifying races for the Daytona 500 will be moving to prime-time in 2014, track officials at Daytona International Speedway announced Thursday.

    Although this marks a break in the long held tradition that has seen the twin pair of races held on the Thursday afternoon preceding the 500, this is a time shift that is much-needed.
