Qualifying for the Sprint Cup Series’ SUBWAY Fresh Fit 500 in Phoenix begins on Friday evening, the second race of the season after last weekend’s Daytona 500.
NASCAR Phoenix 2013 qualifying: Drivers hope for strong starts to the weekend
Denny Hamlin is going for his second-consecutive victory at this event.
Denny Hamlin won this race last season. Other drivers to keep an eye on include Jimmie Johnson, who won the Daytona 500 last Sunday, and Danica Patrick, who made history by winning the pole at Daytona.
The drivers will be on the track for one pre-qualifying practice session beginning at around 2 p.m. ET, and qualifying gets underway at 6:05 p.m. ET. Each driver will run two laps in qualifying.
