NASCAR Point Standings After Fontana: Dale Earnhardt Jr. takes Sprint Cup Series lead

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has taken the Sprint Cup Series points lead following a second-place at Sunday’s race at Auto Club Speedway. The result was Earnhardt’s fifth-consecutive top-10 to begin the season, continuing the best start to a season in his career.

He took the lead from Brad Keselowski, who finished 22nd after facing overheating issues on Sunday, giving Earnhardt a 18-point advantage heading into the off-weekend. Jimmie Johnson remains third place in the standings after a 12th place finish at Fontana.

Kyle Busch was the biggest gainer of the weekend, moving up four spots to sixth after Sunday’s victory while Clint Bowyer had the largest drop, dropping 10 spots to 14th.
