Drivers in the Sprint Cup Series didn’t have to travel far this week for the next race on the schedule. Actually, they didn’t move at all. Coming off the All-Star weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, NASCAR is staying around for the Coca-Cola 600.
NASCAR Charlotte 2013 schedule: Points racing returns after All-Star break
It’s time to get back to the races that count. Can Jimmie Johnson extend his points lead on Sunday?

Last year’s winner, Kasey Kahne, currently sits sixth in the points standings, trailing leader Jimmie Johnson by 97 points. Johnson won his fourth All-Star race on Saturday, but that doesn’t mean he’s due for another victory. He finished 11th in the 600-mile race in 2012 after claiming first place in the All-Star event.
Denny Hamlin won the pole on Thursday, the 14th of his career. Johnson will start 12th. Here’s the schedule for this weekend:
Friday, May 24: The Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown, a dirt-track race at Concord, kicks off the action at 7:15 p.m.
Saturday, May 25: The Nationwide History 300 starts at 2:45 p.m. ET. Joey Logano is on the pole.
Sunday, May 26: The main event of the weekend, the Coca-Cola 600, begins at 6 p.m.
