NASCAR Daytona 2013 schedule: Coke Zero 400 set for Saturday evening

Saturday’s Coke Zero 400 at Daytona will end the first half of the 2013 Sprint Cup Series season.

Todd Warshaw

NASCAR will head back to Daytona this weekend for the Sprint Cup Series Coke Zero 400 and the Nationwide Series Subway Firecracker 250. The Coke Zero 400 will be race No. 18 of the 36-race Sprint Cup season, and as the schedule hits the halfway mark there is still much to be decided. Jimmie Johnson leads the Sprint Cup standings, with three wins in 17 starts. Matt Kenseth is atop SB Nation’s power rankings, however, after winning in Kentucky last weekend.

Danica Patrick will be going for her first-ever win as a Sprint Cup rookie, and crew chief Tony Gibson told SB Nation that he believes she can do it. Patrick recorded her only Top-10 finish of the season at Daytona, coming in eighth at the Daytona 500 in February after winning pole position.

This year’s race features typical Floridian weather: Hot and muggy. TNT will begin pre-race coverage on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET, with the race set to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Below is the schedule for the weekend at Daytona, including qualifying and race times for the Subway Firecracker 250:

Friday, July 5

2:05 p.m.: Nationwide Series qualifying for the Subway Firecracker 250
4:10 p.m.: Sprint Cup Series qualifying for the Coke Zero 400
7:30 p.m.: Nationwide Series Subway Firecracker 250 Race

Saturday, July 6

7:30 p.m.: Sprint Cup Series Coke Zero 400 Race
