NASCAR Daytona 2013: Coke Zero 400 qualifying set for Friday

Jimmie Johnson looks to add to his points lead with a strong starting spot this weekend in Daytona.

All eyes will be on Danica Patrick this weekend at the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway. After all, it’s a track she excelled at earlier this season. In February, she became the first woman to earn pole position at the Daytona 500.

She also did pretty well, running as high as third late in the race before falling back to an eighth-place finish. It was the best finish by a woman racer at “The Great American Race,” but she doesn’t plan to rest on that laurel: she hopes to put the experience to good use this time around. “Probably more than anything it just means (having) a little bit of experience so that you can handle whatever situation comes up best,” she said earlier in the week.

Qualifying is set to begin at 4:10 p.m. ET on Friday, and will be broadcast on SPEED. You can also listen on MotorRacingNetwork.com.

Tony Stewart is the defending champion of the race. Matt Kenseth posted the best qualifying time in 46.871 seconds with a top speed of 192.386 mph.

The Coke Zero 400 is scheduled to go green at 7:49 p.m. Saturday and can be viewed on TNT.
