NASCAR at Pocono Raceway 2013: Lineup, starting grid for GoBowling.com 400

Jimmie Johnson set a track qualifying record to earn his second pole of the year.

John Harrelson

Jimmie Johnson earned the pole for the GoBowling.com 400 at Pocono Speedway, setting a track record with a 180.654 mph lap. This is the 11th qualifying record that has been broken this season by the Gen-6 race car, and the second by Johnson.

Johnson nearly failed the pre-race inspection; he ended up going 29th instead of his scheduled 24th. The delay irked Kyle Busch, who ended up qualifying second. Busch talked with reporters after the qualifying round, telling The Associated Press:

“A lot of these other teams figure out how to play by the rules. It seems like there’s one that’s sometimes late. Quite often, more than the rest.”
