Everything is bigger in Texas and apparently this also applies to video screens at Texas Motor Speedway.
Texas Motor Speedway to build world’s largest video screen
Dubbed “Big Hoss TV,” Texas Motor Speedway will soon begin construction on the world’s largest video screen.

Track officials Monday announced plans to build what it is calling the world’s largest high-definition video board. Construction will begin following the November Sprint Cup race and be completed in time for the track’s annual NASCAR spring race weekend to be held April 4-6.
Appropriately nicknamed “Big Hoss TV,” the screen to be located on the backstretch will measure 218 feet long, 94.6 feet wide and stretch nearly 12 stories in the air. And at more than 20,000 square feet the board will surpass the video screen at Charlotte Motor Speedway (16,000 square feet), also owned by Speedway Motorsports Inc., as the largest at any sporting venue.
“This continues to show our company’s commitment to our great race fans and our efforts to remain at the forefront of our industry,” said SMI Chairman and CEO Bruton Smith in a statement. “[Texas Motor Speedway President] Eddie [Gossage] always tells me everything is bigger in Texas, so I wanted to make this video board fit his motto.”
In conjunction with the news of “Big Hoss TV” the track also announced changes to its 2014 schedule. Its April Sprint Cup race, which has been run on Saturday night for the last three years, will shift to Sunday afternoon for one year only. The move is being made to accommodate the NCAA men’s Final Four being held in nearby Arlington at the Dallas Cowboys stadium.
Additionally, the track will host the Izod IndyCar Series June 7 along with a second Cup race Nov. 2.
