The CRA Speedfest Super Late Model race lost a star on Tuesday when 16-time World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion Ric Flair backed out of his scheduled appearance to serve as Grand Marshall of the Jan. 26 race at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Ga.
Ric Flair cancels Speedfest appearance
The Nature Boy was set to appear as the Grand Marshal for the Jan. 26 Super Late Model event but has backed out to appear on the WWE Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View.

Flair was forced to cancel when World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) decided to use him as an anchor on a panel during the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View event on the same night.
Flair was apologetic to everyone in the racing community and is still rooting for Sprint Cup Series driver David Ragan, a close personal friend of the Nature Boy.
“To the fans, crew and drivers, I profusely apologize that I won’t be able to be at the race, but hope everyone still heads out to Watermelon Capital Speedway this weekend to support my buddy David Ragan at Zaxby’s SpeedFest 2014,” Flair said in a statement.
The event will still feature autograph sessions with Ragan and fellow NASCAR Sprint Cup stars Jeff Burton and Joe Nemechek who will attend the race in support of their sons, Harrison Burton and John Hunter Nemechek. Burton will race in the Pro Late Model Chevrolet Performance 125 while Nemechek will compete in both the Pro Late and Super Late Model events.
The Pro Late Model race is scheduled for 125 laps while Speedfest is a 200 lap exhibition event for the ARCA/CRA Super Series.
