NASCAR Race day weather at Charlotte 2014: Should go the distance
Rain showers and storms have exited Charlotte Motor Speedway and NASCAR is drying the track. Will there be any more weather woes for the Bank of America 500 tonight?

My forecast earlier was for rain showers between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. EDT over Charlotte Motor Speedway. Most of the rain fell between 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. and are leaving the area. As NASCAR dries the track it looks like we should be good for 334 laps and 500 miles.
WILL NASCAR START ON TIME?
Track drying is underway and with some sunshine for the next two hours, the Air Titan should get the track dry. I say they can get started on time but there could be a delay.
WILL MOTHER NATURE ALLOW NASCAR TO GO THE FULL DISTANCE?
My odds for NASCAR being able to complete all 334 laps is now between 80-90 percent. While the radar will need to be watched for possible development to the west-southwest I think we are good. There is a small chance of an isolated shower or storm forming but the likelihood is low.
I'll be keeping an eye on the radar all evening so follow me on Twitter @NASCAR_WXMAN and like me on Facebook for the latest weather updates through the evening.
