NASCAR Charlotte 2014: Start time, TV schedule for Bank of America 500

Round 2 of the Chase continues from Charlotte and the race might be a must-win for a few big names.

Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports

The Chase for the Sprint Cup moves to Charlotte this week with the second-to-last race of Round 2. For a few drivers, it could be a pivotal race if they have any intentions of moving on to the next round. Brad Keselowski, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are among the drivers at the bottom of the leaderboard who likely need a solid result this week if they are going to keep racing.

Round 2 of the Chase will wrap next week at Talladega with only eight drivers moving on. Keselowski, Johnson and Earnhardt are among those currently facing elimination. Keselowski is 10th heading into Charlotte, Earnhardt is 11th and Johnson is 12th. The three combined to win 10 races during the regular season and were among the favorites coming into the Chase. Now they’re on the outside looking in, and with unpredictable Talladega up next securing points this week might be pivotal. Earnhardt is well aware of the situation.

“You can’t really go into Talladega with the same confidence because it’s such a lottery there on how in the hell you are going to finish,” said Earnhardt. “I want to make it happen now. I feel like I’ve got a better chance today, this week than I do in Talladega even with the success we’ve had there.”

The race will be under the lights at Charlotte with the green flag estimated to fly at 7:46 p.m. ET. ABC will handle television coverage, with the broadcast set to begin at 7:30 p.m. The pre-race show on ABC will start at 7 p.m. When the race begins, Allen Bestwick, Dale Jarrett and Andy Petree will be on the call.

In addition to the main coverage, NASCAR.com will provide RaceView coverage with a subscription, while Performance Racing Network on Sirius-XM will provide radio coverage.
