NASCAR Talladega 2014: Start time, TV schedule for GEICO 500

In ESPN’s coverage of the GEICO 500 from Talladega, driver Denny Hamlin will be an in-car reporter on Sunday afternoon in the sixth of 10 races in The Chase for NASCAR’s Sprint Cup.

NASCAR returns to Talladega this weekend, with the sixth of 10 races in The Chase for the Sprint Cup the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. After Sunday’s race, four drivers will be eliminated from championship contention, leaving eight drivers and four races remaining for NASCAR’s ultimate prize.

But first in Talladega on Sunday, the GEICO 500 will be televised by ESPN, beginning with pre-race coverage at 1 p.m. ET, with host Nicole Briscoe on “NASCAR Countdown,” alongside analysts Rusty Wallace and Brad Daugherty. Race coverage begins at 2 p.m., with the green flag expected at 2:19 p.m.

Allen Bestwick will call the race for ESPN, with analysts Dale Jarrett and Andy Petree, and will be joined by pit reporters Dave Burns, Jamie Little, Dr. Jerry Punch and Vince Welch.

The addition for ESPN during the GEICO 500 will be driver Denny Hamlin, trying to qualify for the next round of The Chase. Hamlin will be ESPN’s in-car reporter, speaking with Jarrett during pace laps and caution periods.

The race will also be available online via Watch ESPN, and will be televised live in Spanish on ESPN Deportes, with Andres Aguila and Alex Pombo on the call.
