Like any first-time father Clint Bowyer was feeling a bit anxious when wife Lorra went into labor Tuesday. But take into account that Bowyer is naturally excitable and you can imagine the scene in the delivery room.
NASCAR Kansas 2014: Clint Bowyer to delivery room doctor: ‘Get the hell out of my way’
Between the birth of his son and the success of the Kansas City pro sports teams, Clint Bowyer’s week hasn’t lacked for excitement.

“I was high-fiving people and I was kind of pushing the doctor out of the way at one point because I was trying to get a better view of him coming into the world,” Bowyer said Friday at Kansas Speedway. “Of course, the nurses are trying to hold me back and they’re like, ‘You can’t get that close.‘ I’m like, ‘Get the hell out of my way, here he comes.’”
After a bit of a delay, Lorra gave birth to a healthy baby boy early Wednesday morning. After some back-and-forth, the couple settled on the name Cash Aaron, which Bowyer explained was for a very simplistic reason.
“Probably for all the cash that he’s going to cost me over the years when he gets to racing cars or something,” Bowyer said.

— Clint Bowyer (@ClintBowyer) October 1, 2014 That the birth of his son came in the week NASCAR returns to Bowyer’s home track was a happy coincidence for the native of Emporia, Kansas. It also coincides with what has been a significant week in sports for the Kansas City area.
The NFL Kansas City Chiefs romped the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football and the Kansas City Royals played its first Major League Baseball playoff game since 1985. Bowyer would love to add to that euphoria by scoring his first victory in front of his home state fans.
“If somehow a Kansas City driver could win this race that would be unbelievable,” he said.
Bowyer was watching the Royals’ dramatic come-from-behind victory over the Oakland Athletics when Lorra went into labor Tuesday night. Thinking the Royals were destined to lose and with his wife about to deliver, Bowyer turned off the game only to discover later the outcome.
“We get up at like 4:00 a.m. and everything is going crazy and I don’t even know why, but I glance up at the TV and the news is going on and the Royals won,” Bowyer said. “I’m like, ‘Honey, you ain’t going to believe this, but the Royals won.’ Now we’re arguing about the Royals winning and they’re carting her out the door.
“That’s just what the Kansas City area does and being a fans of sports, what a week they’ve had right here in Kansas City.”
