The eighth race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup is set for Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway. It’s the AAA 500, and with eight drivers still in the running for the Cup, there’s a ton on the line. Jeff Gordon is atop the standings but just barely, with a seven-point lead over Ryan Newman. It’s worth noting that Newman has yet to win a race this season, so the prospect of a winless champion is still there.
NASCAR Texas 2014: Start time, TV schedule for AAA Texas 500
The Chase for the Sprint Cup continues on Sunday with the AAA Texas 500.

Matt Kenseth is fourth in points and also has yet to win a race this year. Joey Logano sits in third place, with Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski and Kevin Harvick still in the running and comprising spots five through eight. That said, guys like Gordon and Logano are favored to take the race on Sunday. Kenseth has performed well at the track historically, but it still seems like an outside chance that the new format will result in a winless champion.
The race is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday with television coverage provided by ESPN. There will be a pre-race show beginning an hour earlier. Here’s all the details below:
