2014 NASCAR At Daytona International Speedway: Nice weekend weather

The first weekend of the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup season and you couldn’t ask for better weather for the Sprint Unlimited later tonight.

Tracking a cold front that will push across northern and central Florida this morning and afternoon. The air over central Florida is quite dry so the threat of rain is extremely low but with any cold front there is a slight chance of a passing sprinkle during the mid to late morning as the front crosses over Daytona International Speedway. I expect partly to mostly cloudy skies this morning with winds increasing to 15 to 25 mph out of the west and occasional gust of over 30 mph. The afternoon will clear and give way to sunshine and temperatures in the upper 60s for the ARCA race as winds decrease during the afternoon.

For the Sprint Unlimited later tonight, skies will be clear to mostly clear, it will be cool with racing temperatures in the mid to low 50s and winds diminishing to 5 to 10 mph out of the west. Weather will not be a problem when the Sprint Cup cars hit the track for the first competition of the 2014 season.

Sunday through mid week looks very nice, dry and with warming daytime temperatures. Highs will be near 70 for Sunday and Sprint Cup qualifying and it will keep getting warmer as we could see 80 by Wednesday. The next several days will feature plenty of sunshine.
