NASCAR Phoenix 2014: Danica Patrick says Justin Allgaier drove ‘like a complete jackass’

Her aggravation building, Danica Patrick crashed for the second week in a row Sunday at Phoenix.

Danica Patrick left frustrated following a pair of spins Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway.

The first incident involved Justin Allgaier and Travis Kvapil on Lap 172, and led Patrick to seek out Allgaier and have a discussion post-race, according to multiple reports. Patrick was running 25th, one lap down at the time.

“The damn 51 (Allgaier) was driving like a complete jackass,” Patrick radioed to her team immediately afterward. “I’m not at all surprised we wrecked.”

Her woes continued 16 laps later when damage from contact with Allgaier cut a tire and caused Patrick to spin. Patrick left the track without speaking to reporters. She finished 36th, six laps down. Allgaier, a rookie making just his sixth career start, finished three laps down in 30th:

“It’s tough,” Patrick said in a team statement. “That’s two weeks in a row we’ve had good cars and nothing to show for it. The car was good all day, we just needed track position. I’m starting to think if we didn’t have bad luck, we’d have no luck at all. The GoDaddy guys built me a great car for the second week in a row. I hate it for them, and I hate it for GoDaddy. This is obviously an important race for them. Hopefully things turn around in Las Vegas.”

Patrick’s 2014 campaign has gotten off to a slow start as she also wrecked in the season-opening Daytona 500. She ranks 39th in points, and has completed every lap in just one of her last 10 races dating back to last season.
