The Nationwide Series rookie took the checkered flag for the second week in a row and became the youngest driver to win at Darlington Raceway.

But if Chase Elliott has proved anything in a short amount of time it’s that he’s no ordinary Nationwide Series rookie, winning for the second time in as many weeks.
Elliott executed a last-lap pass of Elliott Sadler to win the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 Friday night. Elliott restarted sixth with three laps to go following a slow pit stop, but with little haste he stormed to the front and when Sadler bobbled off of Turn 2 on the final lap, Elliott pounced.

“Darlington has always been my favorite place to watch a race,” Elliott said. “Just to be a part of this race is unbelievable. To win this thing is a day I’ll never forget.”
Elliott was making his initial start on the Darlington oval nicknamed “The Track Too Tough to Tame” and the oldest speedway in NASCAR. The son of Hall of Famer Bill Elliott, Chase Elliott at 18 years, four months and 14 days is the youngest winner in the track’s storied history, which began hosting races in 1950, and the youngest driver to win two Nationwide races.
The performance of the teenager who’s still a senior in high school has wowed those around him, including car owner Dale Earnhardt Jr.
“I like to call him the new Elvis, he’s the full package,” Earnhardt said. “He ain’t even focusing on racing 100 percent, he’s still in school. Wait until he graduates. Then he’ll be real trouble for those guys.”
Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano completed the top five finishers.
