NASCAR Texas 2014 live results: Team Penske takes control late at Texas

With the laps winding down, Joey Logano and teammate Brad Keselowski run 1-2 at Texas.

Team Penske drivers Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski have assumed control with 55 laps to go in Monday’s NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Following a restart for a spin by Kurt Busch, who won a week ago at Martinsville, Logano passed race leader Jeff Gordon and teammate Keselowski to take the lead. Neither Logano nor Gordon has a victory this season, while Keselowski won last month at Las Vegas. A win during the regular season virtually guarantees a driver qualifies for the 10-race Chase for the Championship.

Rookie Kyle Larson has quietly worked his way towards the front, running fourth. Kyle Busch is fifth followed by Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin in the sixth position. Hamlin had to overcome an earlier penalty for speeding on pit road, but has had one of the strongest cars throughout the afternoon. Greg Biffle is seventh.

Tony Stewart started on the pole and led three times for 74 laps, but faded after the handling went away on his Chevrolet. He now is eighth. The remainder of the top 10 consists of Kasey Kahne and Matt Kenseth.
