Jamie McMurray is on the pole for race No. 16 in the Sprint Cup Series.

He’s now second in points for the Sprint Cup Series, behind Jeff Gordon. Gordon has five career wins in the Toyota/Save Mart 350, and his most recent first-place finish in Sonoma was in 2006.
Martin Truex Jr., the winner at Sonoma last year, will start the race in row nine with Dale Earnhardt Jr. Juan Pablo Montoya was in position to take second place in the race last June but ran out of fuel in the final lap, dropping him to to 34th.
