Jonah Hill shows Jimmy Fallon how to start a NASCAR race

Over the years NASCAR has seen various celebrities give the traditional command — “Drivers, start your engines” — to begin a race.

As to be expected, the results have been decidedly mixed.

Who can forget the, um, memorable version Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Shaquille O’Neal incorporated last July at Daytona International Speedway? Or James France before the 2013 Daytona 500: “Drivers — and Danica — start your engines!”

Those are the big shoes Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, the stars of the new film “22 Jump Street,” will attempt to fill Sunday at Pocono Raceway.

Delivering the most famous words in motor sports is a role neither actor has undertook previously. And Hill obviously needs help with his rendition, as seen during an appearance Tuesday night on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon.

An admittedly cautious driver Hill is considering saying something along the lines of, “Race car guys and women have fun and be safe.” He may in fact ask drivers to slow down, remind them not to text and drive and to use their turn signals.
